ROBERT McCLELLAND MARTIN

During WWII Bob Martin was a First Lieutenant in the Army 97th Bomb Group, 15th Air Force. He flew 49 successful missions, was shot down and became a prisoner of war. He received many honors including the Purple Heart and Distinguished Flying Cross. Bob was a partner in Artist Studios, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio and a guest lecturer at Lakeland Community College.

Bob served his community in numerous roles. He was involved in his neighborhood community, South Russell Village Council, Habitat for Humanity, Chagrin Falls United Methodist Church, and the 70’s and 80's peace movement. He spoke at several schools about his war experience and what it meant to be a prisoner of war. He loved gardening, his woods, his dogs, his family, his church. He was a very accomplished artist and gifted his artwork to many friends, family and organizations through the years.

He is survived by three children, 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his dear wife of 50 years, Isabelle Martin, and one grandchild.

Donations in honor of Bob Martin can be sent to the Geauga County Humane Society or the Odyssey Hospice Health Care.

Visiting Hours Stroud-Lawrence Funeral Home, 95 S. Franklin St., 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 18th.

Services held at Chagrin Falls Methodist Church, 20 S. Franklin St., Chagrin Falls, 11:30 a.m. September 19th.

Military burial following at Restland Cemetery.
