H. GERALDINE HUGGETT JOHNSON
H. Geraldine "Gerry" Huggett Johnson (nee Hitchcock) passed away February 7, 2010 at her home in Painesville, surrounded by her loving family and her caring aides from Visiting Angels.
Mrs. Johnson was born January 6, 1918 in Columbus, and was a longtime Chagrin Falls resident, moving to Munson Twp. and settling in Painesville 5 years ago. She married William D. Huggett in May, 1938. He preceded her in death in 1967. She then married Melburn R. Johnson in Chagrin Falls on May 24, 1969. He preceded her in death February 26, 2004.
Mrs. Johnson was the bookkeeper for the former Weber Hardware in Chagrin Falls from 1956 until 1969. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, gardening and mowing her lawn. She was a member of the Rebecca's Lodge in Chagrin Falls. Her most cherished times were spending time with her family.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by daughter, Carolyn A. (Mike) Dye of Concord Twp., OH; son, T. Virgil (Carol) Huggett of Chagrin Falls, OH; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; step-daughter, Joyce C. (Marv) Johnson of Columbus, OH; step-sons, Tim R. (Jenette) Johnson of Arlington, TX; Richard (Betty) Johnson of Hickory Creek, TX; Kenneth A. (Sheryle) Johnson of Montville Twp., OH. She is preceded in death by her husbands, William D. Huggett and Melburn R. Johnson; parents, Harry and Edith (nee Ludlum) Hitchcock; sisters, Margaret Kisner and Ellen Smith.
A memorial service will be held Friday, February 12 at 11:00a.m. at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., (on St. Rt. 44, 500' south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square), Chardon, OH with Rev. Robert Gaston (retired) officiating. Family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. Private family burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Chagrin Falls, OH.
