Lynch, Margaret Wemple
MARGARET WEMPLE LYNCH
Margaret Wemple Lynch, 87, formerly of Moreland Hills Village for 46 years and Chagrin Falls, died peacefully August 28, 2008, at Wesleyan Village in Elyria, Ohio.
Mrs. Lynch was born in Cleveland and graduated from Glenville High School and Flora Stone Mather College. She and her husband of 63 years Donald L. Lynch lived in Lyndhurst and moved to Moreland Hills in 1957. In 2003, they moved to Hamlet Village in Chagrin Falls, and last year to Wesleyan Village in Elyria.
Mrs. Lynch was an active leader in the Moreland Hills Historical Society, where she guided the building of a log cabin to commemorate the birth site of James A. Garfield, 20th president of the United States, and she loved being a docent for visitors to the cabin and for second graders from Orange Schools. She was a lifelong active member of Epworth-Euclid United Methodist Church and focused her energies on the Commission on Missions and the United Methodist Women. She served on the Board of Directors of the Berea Children's Home and Family Services, with a term as President. She was active in the Orange Schools PTA, the Chagrin Valley Camera Club, the Cleveland Colony of the Society of Mayflower Descendants, and the Musical Art Society.
She loved and supported her husband, her family, and her community. She acted her faith and volunteered purposefully. She was a resourceful renaissance Methodist woman. She played piano, sang in the church choir, and with her husband appreciated the Cleveland Orchestra for many seasons. She was "green" before the environmental movement existed. She made delicious jams and jellies, canned tomatoes, peaches, and pears, sewed dresses for her daughters, and loved the pussy willows, lilacs, and peonies around her home. She was a lifelong learner and loved to study nature and to photograph and identify plants, flowers, and birds. She saw the beauty of God in everything --- her family and friends, the organ music and stained glass windows at church, and even a simple pine cone.
Preceded in death by parents Ralph and Florence Wemple, a brother John Elliott Wemple, and a grandson Dillan Molenaar, Mrs. Lynch is survived by her husband Donald, by her children Karen Frederick of Bedford, MA, Elaine (Donald) Bogus of South Russell, Bruce Lynch of Milwaukee, WI, Pauline Molenaar of Dracut, MA, Larry (Annemarie Hirsch) Lynch of Eugene, OR, and Elisabeth (William) Miner of Berkeley, CA, by former daughters-in-law Cynthia Durko Lynch of Greenfield, WI and Margie James of Eugene, OR, by her grandchildren Mark (Katrina) Frederick, Sarah Frederick, Elizabeth Bogus, Valerie Bogus, Elliott Durko Lynch, Rachel (David) Henry, Kevin Lynch, Eric Lynch, and Jennifer Miner, by her great-grand children Alexander, Hillary, Seth, Elijah, and Julian, and by her sister Ruth W. Bolz of Cary, NC, formerly of Gates Mills and Russell Twp., and many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Wesleyan Village and the staff of Comfort Keepers for their kind and compassionate care of Mrs. Lynch during the past months.
