WALTER G. SCHENDEL
Walter G. Schendel, age 88, of Moreland Hills, OH, passed away on Friday, June 18, 2010. Member of Lander Circle Kiwanis and served as president; member Moreland Hills Planning Commission. Veteran Captain of WWII, attended University of Maryland, enjoyed successful career as a Regional Director at International Harvester. Prior to moving to Moreland Hills in 1997, resided in Virginia Beach, VA, where he founded Walt's London Bridge Sunoco, owned Dante's Restaurant, and served as Sales Executive for Norfolk Truck Center. Walt was a scratch golfer, and also enjoyed boating, woodworking, and painting.
He will be missed by his beloved wife of 47 years, Monk (Rosella) Schendel; son, Jerry Schendel and wife (Sharon) of Fairfield, CT; daughter, Marti Dotson and husband (Allan) of Lawrenceville, GA; stepson, John Lamb of Moreland Hills, OH; stepdaughter, Randy Roach and husband (Michael) of Chicago, IL; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 300 East 185th Street, Cleveland, OH 44119.
A memorial service was held on June 23rd at Stroud-Lawrence Funeral Home, 95 South Franklin Street in Chagrin Falls, OH.
