OLIVE HILL WILKENS
Olive H. Wilkens of Aurora, Ohio passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 12, 2010. She was born in Avon Lake November 15, 1925, the daughter of Leo John and Olivia (nee Theisen) Hill. She graduated from Avon Lake High School in 1943, and from Ohio Wesleyan in 1947 with a major in chemistry. In 1948 Olive married James A. Diamond. After raising three children, Carol Lee, Susan Kay, and James Channing, she went back to school at John Carroll University. There Olive earned a teaching certificate and a Master’s degree. She taught science and math at Memorial Junior High School in South Euclid for 20 years. She lived in Chagrin Falls for 50 years before moving with her second husband, Fred Wilkens, to Aurora.
Olive was an active member of The Church in Aurora, Chagrin Falls Historical Society, Geauga County Historical Society, Chagrin Antiques Club, and the Cleveland Sport Car Club.
A life-long traveler, Olive visited many U.S. states and most of the countries in the Middle East and Europe. She was a good storyteller and had a wonderful sense of humor and fun. She loved wildflowers and gardening, pets, and antiques.
She is survived by her three children.
A memorial service will be held at Stroud-Lawrence Funeral Home in Chagrin Falls this Friday, November 19. Visitation starts at 6 p.m., with the service at 7 p.m.
