ALDERFER WILLIAM J.
WILLIAM J. ALDERFER
William J. Alderfer, 80, was given peace and entered into eternal life to be with Christ on November 23, 2010. Bill was born in Niles, Michigan, on March 21, 1930, and married Arlene (Jespersen) Alderfer October 1, 1954. She preceded him in death. They raised their two daughters in Bainbridge (Geauga County) OH and retired to Melbourne, Florida, in 1992.
Bill touched the lives of anyone he had contact with. He devoted his entire life to loving, caring for and sharing his wisdom with his wife, two daughters, sons (in law), his four grandchildren, and his five great grandchildren.
He proudly served in the United States Navy where he swam on the U.S. Naval team. As a young man he participated in all types of sports including football, basketball and boxing. He loved to hunt and fish.
He is survived by two daughters; Deborah (Bruce) Hummel of Kent, Ohio, and Diana (Dave) Walters of Ashtabula, Ohio; four grandchildren, Eric (Karen) Hummel of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Kristy (David) Sanner of Meadville, Pennsylvania, Bryan (Dawn) Hummel of Hudson, Ohio, and Zachary Smith of Meadville, Pennsylvania; five great grandchildren, Nicolette, Andrew, Lucas, Kayla and Ashley; and a loving companion, Flo Jankowski of Melbourne, Florida.
His daughters would like to thank VITAS Hospice team 185, friends of Bill and Arlene, and Hollywood Estate "family" for their loving support and care of their parents.
A Memorial Service will be held at Valley Presbyterian Church,17560 Chillicothe Rd., Chagrin Falls, Ohio 44023 on Sunday, December 12, 2010, at 2:00 PM.
