MAURICE “MAURI” SLEETH

Mr. Maurice “Mauri” Sleeth, 79, of 42181 Thompson Run Rd., Titusville, PA, died Tuesday afternoon October 19, 2010, at his residence.

Mauri was born on September 6, 1931, in Kokomo, IN, a son of the late Haines and Marjorie Hawkins Sleeth. He was married to Betty Darby on June 5, 1954, at High Point, NC.

Mauri was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served with the US Marines. He entered the service in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1954 with the rank of sergeant.

He was a graduate of Kokomo High School and had attended Wabash College. He graduated from Indiana University after serving with the U.S. Marines.

Mauri was in the sales department of the former Cytemp Specialty Steel Corp. from 1970 until 1992 at which time he retired as national sales manager for the company. Before joining Cytemp Specialty Steel Corp., Mauri had worked for Haynes Stellite Steel Co. and Teledyne Allvac.

Mauri was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Titusville and a member of the Bruce Shorts Post No. 5958 VFW. He enjoyed playing golf and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; three children, Michelle S. Perozek and husband, Thomas, of Highland Heights, OH, Colonel Denette L. Sleeth of Merritt Island, FL, and James D. Sleeth of Melissa, TX; three grandchildren, Sam Perozek, Michael Perozek, and Brandon Turner; and a sister, Carol Sue Jackson, and husband, Ken, of Simsbury, CT. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Lou Countryman.

Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Titusville, PA. The family asks that memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 216 N. Franklin St., Titusville, PA 16354 or to the charity of one's choice.
