Fortner, Shirley Legrand
SHIRLEY LEGRAND FORTNER
Shirley Legrand Fortner, 74, of Chagrin Falls, Ohio passed away July 25, 2008.
She was born to the late Irene and JJ (Grit) Legrand. She grew up in Springdale, Pa. and graduated from Penn State. She had many ties to Western Pa. She was a member of Pennsylvania Chapter #453 of The Eastern Star.
She was honored by both the American and Ohio Dietetic Association for her 50 year career in dietetics. She was President of the Cleveland East Zeta Tau Alpha alums for 3 years and was later awarded a certificate of merit from the sorority.
A long-time resident of Chagrin Falls, Oh., Shirley was an active member of the United Methodist Church.
She was a devoted wife to Douglas, loving mother to Suzyn (D. Brett) Bryson, Judy (Veasna) Srey, and Amy (Daniel) Baraona, loving stepmom to Elizabeth (Charles) Stein, Jeffery (Maureen) Fortner, Michael (Patty) Fortner, and a proud and loving grandmother of 25 and great-grandmother of 8.
No flowers please. Memorials may be sent to the Ireland Cancer Center, Attn: Memorial Gifts, 11100 Euclid Ave., Cleveland OH 44106, to help fund research for mesothelioma.
Viewing will be from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Thursday, July 31 at Stroud-Lawrence Funeral Home. Services will be from the Chagrin Falls United Methodist Church on Friday, August 1st at 2:30pm. Interment is private.
