ROLF R. TINGE
Rolf R. Tinge, age 78, formally of Chagrin Falls, passed away peacefully at home with family February 17, 2011. Rolf was born February 25, 1932, and remained married to his high school sweetheart, Marjorie (Richards), for 60 years.
Loving father of Susan (Payton), Roma (Smith), Nancy Tinge, Mike Tinge, Mary Jo (Will Czerr); grandfather of 7, Marcus, Evan, Carin, Amy, Tara, Scotty, and Will; great-grandfather of 3; loving brother of Mary Hahn, Willemina Tinge, Virginia Reichart (deceased); and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Rolf graduated from CFHS in 1950, attended OSU, and served in the U.S. Army Reserves. Rolf owned and operated Valley Motors 1954-1957. A Charter member of Chagrin Valley and West Geauga Jaycees, Geauga County Democratic Chairman, and full delegate to the 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago.
Rolf loved boating. He immersed himself in many organizations representing rights of recreational boaters. Past commodore of TCYC, past commander of GCBA, past commodore I-LYA, past president of the International Order of the Blue Gavel, and past chairman of the Issues and Policy Committee for National Boating Federation.
A memorial service and luncheon will be held Saturday, February 26, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the Federated Church, 76 Bell Street, Chagrin Falls, OH 44022.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Geauga Humane Society, Rescue Village, P.O. Box 116, Novelty OH 44072.
