Sutliff, Caroline Reed Rowe
CAROLINE REED ROWE SUTLIFF
Caroline Reed Rowe Sutliff, 58, of South Russell, died Thursday, July 17, 2008. She was born in Buffalo, New York on July 7, 1950, to Gordon D. Rowe and the late Frances Reed Rowe.
Caroline grew up in East Aurora, NY, and moved to South Russell, OH in 1966. After graduating from Chagrin Falls High School in 1968, she went on a trip which took her around the world visiting places like India, Thailand, and Vietnam. After returning home, she attended and graduated from Westminster College in 1973.
Caroline was very active in many organizations in the Chagrin Valley. She was a member of the Chagrin Valley Jaycee Wives and volunteered with Geauga County's Children's Awareness Training. She was a member of the Dogwood Valley Garden Club and was instrumental in planting the hay baskets in downtown Chagrin Falls every spring. Caroline also volunteered at Hospice of the Western Reserve. Caroline had a great love for gardening, cooking, knitting and entertaining and was a master at all.
Caroline is survived by Walter Hannen Sutliff, III, her husband of 31 years. Besides her husband, Caroline is survived by her two daughters, Elizabeth Sutliff Roeder, her husband Andrew Roeder and son, Andrew, of Cincinnati, OH and Suzanne Ames Sutliff, of Miami, FL. Caroline is also survived by her father, Gordon D. Rowe of Aurora, OH; her brother, Gordon D. Rowe of Lancaster, PA; her brother, David E. Rowe of Indianapolis, IN; and her brother, Thomas R. Rowe and his wife, Kathy of Boston, MA. Caroline is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A private family funeral and burial was held on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at the Munn Cemetery, Newbury, OH.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, July 24, 2008, at the Federated Church, Chagrin Falls. The family requests memorial donations be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, Attn: Memorial Gifts, 5786 Heisley Road, Mentor OH 44060.
