Winning three of the five courts in the Chagrin Valley Conference Chagrin Division tennis tournament May 5, Kenston served itself to a conference title. Last season, the Bombers finished fifth at the tournament.
This season, with 22 points, the Bombers bested Orange, 17 points, Chagrin Falls, 15 points, Hawken School, 14 points, and Beachwood, seven points, in the five-team competition.
On the first singles court, Hawken's Dhruv Yadav defeated Kenston's Nolan Marks, 6-3, 6-0, in the championship match. Marks had beaten Yadav during a dual match three days prior to the tournament, 6-0, 7-5, when Kenston beat Hawken, 3-2.
On the second singles court, Kenston's Tyler Barr defeated Hawken's Siddharth Ahuja, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3, in the championship match. Barr had played first doubles with Stephen Wonnell in the Hawken dual match and did not face Ahuja before the CVC tournament.
On the third singles court, Kenston's Ryan Reese defeated Orange's Kunaal Bafna, 6-1, 6-3, in the championship match. Reese previously defeated Bafna, 6-2, 6-0, during the Kenston-Orange dual match on April 13. Kenston beat Orange, 5-0, that day.
On the first doubles court, Chagrin Falls' Chris Gajewski and Alex Kreger defeated Orange's Jordan Davis and Benji Trangle, 6-2, 6-1, in the championship match.

As a team, Kenston only lost one dual match this season at the racquets of North Canton Hoover, when their record dropped to 12-1 before beating Hawken.
Meanwhile, in Division I, Solon's tennis team finished second with 63 points in the Northeast Ohio Conference Valley Division tennis championship tournament May 6. The Comets were bested by Hudson, which scored 72 points. Medina finished third with 32 points, Mayfield fourth with 31 points and Strongsville fifth with 30 points.
The championship matches were Solon vs. Hudson on all five courts. Hudson took four of the matches, which was a turnabout after Solon beat Hudson, 3-2, in a dual match earlier this season on April 20. The first and second singles courts were the difference.
On the first singles court, Hudson's Steven Boslet defeated Jason Schrode, 6-3, 6-1. Schrode beat Bolset, 1-6, 6-4, 6-3, on April 20.
On the second singles court, Hudson's Mike Herrmann defeated David Shankman by a third-set default after the first two sets were split, 7-6, 3-6. Shankman defeated Herrmann, 6-3, 6-2, on April 20.
