O�BRIEN KATHRYN ELIZABETH
Kathryn Elizabeth O’Brien, 30, of Middlefield who was raised in Bainbridge Township and was a 1998 graduate of Kenston High School died on June 15th at University Hospital. Daughter of Thomas P. and Susan K. (deceased). Katy was born August 19, 1980, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A tremendous athlete and student, Katy was recognized as All-Ohio in the shot put and discus as well as for academics. Katy is recognized on the “Wall of Fame” at Kenston High School for her accomplishments in track and field. She attended the University of Arkansas on a track scholarship as well as Brigham Young University. Katy also had musical and acting talents. She was a member of Show Choir in high school. She also performed in the role of “Go to Hell Kitty” in the 2001 production of “Chicago” at the Chagrin Valley Little Theatre. She was also an excellent artist with a talent for drawing and a flair for fashion design. Although her health became a challenge over the past 10 years, Katy had an infectious personality of perseverance and optimism.
Katy is survived by her parents, Thomas P. and Sheri L. O’Brien; her brother, Thomas P. II of Houma, Louisiana; her sister, Anna G. of London, England; and her grandparents, Pete and Betty (nee O’Brien) Miller of Middlefield, Ohio; and William Jay and Kay Mincks of The Villages, Florida.
A service was held on June 21st at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Solon. Burial was at Restland Cemetery in Bainbridge Township.
Katy loved animals and especially the family dogs. Accordingly, the family requests that any donations be made to the Geauga Humane Society Rescue Village, P.O. Box 116, Novelty, Ohio 44072 Arrangements by Stroud-Lawrence Funeral Home Chagrin Falls, Ohio.
