DONALD EUGENE COLUCCI
Don passed peacefully August 5th after being ill for some time. Born May 3, 1925, in Canton, OH. He attended McKinley High where he was the co-captain of the football team. He served during WWII in the Navy as a Seabee. Upon returning from the war, he attended and graduated from the University of Cincinnati where he earned a degree in architecture. He was an architect for over 53 years in the state of Ohio and served as the City of Akron's architect as well as working for major firms in Northeastern Ohio.
Some of his most creative designs can be seen on the college campuses of Malone University and Walsh University, Canton, OH; LaPlace, Beachwood, OH, and First in Main, Hudson, OH.
He loved golfing, traveling, music, friends, but most importantly his family.
Don is survived by his three sons, Donald "Skip", Tom (Diana Rossi), John; two sisters, Louise (Morris, deceased) Marburger, Dorothy (Roy, deceased) Sheil, both of Canton; and numerous nephews and nieces. Preceded in death by his parents, Rose (Sirpilla) and Louis; wife, Catherine; sister, Estelle Maggiore; brother-in-law, Sam Maggiore; brother, Al; nephew, David Maggiore.
A private memorial service for family and friends will be held at Stroud-Lawrence Funeral Home in Chagrin Falls, OH on Monday, August 15 at 12:00. Donations can be made in his memory to Volunteers of America, 1776 East Broad St., Columbus OH 43203.
