CAROL JEAN HENDERSON
Mrs. Carol Jean Henderson, 79, passed from this life on Saturday, August 13, 2011, with family and friends at her side.
Carol was born on December 28, 1931, in Akron, a daughter of Clarence P. & Catherine (Jackson) Klein. She graduated from Boardman High School in 1949 and attended Bowling Green State University.
Mrs. Henderson was a customer service representative with the Standard Oil Company for 34 years and retired in 1985. She was an active member of St. Martin's Episcopal Church where she served on the vestry board and was involved in several Bible study groups. She held various positions in the Cleveland East Christian Women's Connection and the Chagrin Valley Women's Club. She was involved with the New Life Community and along with her husband, Jerry, began the tutoring program and organized donations at the Chagrin Falls Park.
She loved doing needlework, cooking, caring for her pets and was best known for her generosity to others.
She is survived by her brother, Thomas (Olympia) Klein of Youngstown; sister, Mimi Klein of Boardman; sister-in-law, Vivian Henderson of Struthers; 4 nieces, Vicki Delli Quadri (late Dr. Carmine) of Hubbard, Candee (Michael) Minchin of Stow, Colleen Klein of Cleveland and Carolyn (Gary) Wright of Seattle.
Preceded in death by her parents and husband of 51 years, Gerald West Henderson.
The funeral service was held Wednesday, August 17, 2011, at St. Martin's Episcopal Church and the family received friends prior to the service. Private committal service was held August 18, 2011, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Boardman, Ohio.
