SHIRLEY DUNBAR CULBERTSON

A longtime Moreland Hills resident, Shirley Culbertson passed away on Thursday, August 18 at age 85. The wife of Albert Culbertson for 60 years, Shirley was a University of Illinois graduate.

She is survived by her five children; Janet Varnon (Bob) of Moreland Hills, Karen Boddy (Don) of Elyria, Leigh Woda (Jim) Huntsville, Clark Culbertson (Carolyn) of Huron, and Marty Culbertson (Martine Scheuermann) of Chagrin Falls. Shirley is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Margaret Kleindienst of Phoenix, Arizona and Janet Narten of Cleveland Heights.

In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, she was creative in many endeavors including her passion as a landscape and animal portrait artist. Shirley summered in Ontario for 75 years where she indulged in her love of swimming and boating. She and Al volunteered at both the Cleveland Museums of Art and Natural History.

A celebration of her life will take place at Federated Church where she was a member for over 50 years, in Chagrin Falls at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 27. Donations in her name may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve and the Colorado Kids at Federated Church.
