RICHARD PIERCE MCGINNIS

Richard Pierce McGinnis died on Tuesday, October 10, 2011. He was born on May 15, 1925, in Kingston, Ohio, to George William and Rose Pierce McGinnis. He served in the United States Navy in World War II, and after the war, graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where he was president of the Alpha Chapter of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He attended graduate school at The Ohio State University.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, his brother and sister, and his son, Matthew. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Josephine Anne Charles; children, Richard (Roberto), Molly, Anne Wallenhorst (Martin), James (Ana) and Susan; and his grandchildren, Eric, Emily, Matthew, and Richard Scheuermann, Martin, Erin, and Patrick Wallenhorst, and Dylan McGinnis.

He left the F&R Lazarus Company in Columbus to join API in Chesterland, Ohio. After a twenty year career there, he started his own business, RPM Industrial Sales, in Chagrin Falls.

Travel was one of his favorite pastimes and he and his wife traveled extensively. He enjoyed music and sang in the choirs; The Men of Chagrin, The Valley Singers, and The St. Joan of Arc choir.

Calling hours will be Friday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the St. Joan of Arc Parish Hall at 496 E. Washington St., in Chagrin Falls. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc church at the above address.
