Girls' night out going back to 'Rat Pack' era

It will be girls' night out with the musical duo Rick and Sharona Jan. 24 at the Chagrin Valley Athletic Club in Bainbridge.

Hosted by Your Hometown Chagrin Falls, the event will be a classic tribute to the "Rat Pat" era with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee and Bobby Darin. Between singing and dancing, the entertainers will keep the joint jumping with stories and comical banter.

Native Clevelanders Rick and Sharona have performed their show from the glitzy Las Vegas strip at spots such as the Castaway Casino and Phillips Supper Club to Chagrin Falls. Their audiences have ranged from 5,000 to intimate gatherings of 50 at nightclubs, lounges, convention halls, corporate events and private parties.

The professional actors have appeared in musicals and worked in television and film. They have produced, directed and performed in more than 40 stage productions from Los Angeles to Cleveland, including Flipside, Inside Out and the Guilty Party.

"I have seen Rick and Sharona several times, and they are always fun and fabulous," Chagrin Falls resident Liz Tippit said.

Guests are invited to sip favorite cocktails from the "Rat Pack" era, like old fashioneds or a dry martinis with olives, and listen to such tunes as "Mac the Knife," "I Left my Heart in San Francisco" and "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend."

"This event is designed for women to gather all your girl friends, enjoying each other's company after the holidays are over and sit back to enjoy a fun evening," said Kathleen Visconsi, director of community outreach for Your Hometown. "The holidays are so busy, and, once they are over, it is nice to look forward to a fun night out with the girls."

Complimentary appetizers and the show are included in the ticket price of $30. A full cash bar featuring martinis and other cocktails, wine, beer and soft drinks will be available.

Last year's girls' night out sold out, said Mrs. Visconsi, who encouraged ladies to purchase tickets early by mailing checks payable to Your Hometown Chagrin Falls, P.O. Box 335, Chagrin Falls 44022. Reservations will be held at the door. For more information, call 440-247-1895. The Chagrin Valley Athletic Club is at 17260 Snyder Road.
