SHIRLEY A. RILEY
Shirley A. Riley, age 84, died June 13, 2012, at Solon Pointe Nursing Home after surviving two brain surgeries for a brain aneurism and then a stroke. After 125 days in the hospital in 2000, she learned to walk again and regained much of the use of her left arm.
A resident of Orange Village since 1993, she was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and graduated from high school in Evansville, Indiana. She attended business school in Tyler, Texas.
Her first husband, Robert Kash, died in 1990 after 39 years of marriage. They had lived in Ohio, Illinois, and Pennsylvania. In 1993 she married Bernard J. Riley, a widower, who with his wife had been close friends for many years. He survives her.
She is survived by a son, Michael M. Kash of Lake Forest, Illinois; a daughter, Barbara Joyce of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; one grandchild; five stepchildren; and 11 step-grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held at Our Lady Catholic Chapel at Gilmour Academy in Gates Mills, with Rev. John Blazek, C.S.C. campus minister and a personal friend officiating. Burial will be private. Arrangements by Stroud-Lawrence Funeral Home, Chagrin Falls, Ohio.
