RAYMOND A. ARNOLD, SR.
Raymond A. Arnold, Sr., 78, of Chagrin Falls, died December 16th. Born May 26, 1930 to the late Dwight and Ardith Arnold.
Growing up in the Chagrin Falls area, he played footfall, track, and also participated in boxing, graduating from Chagrin Falls High School in 1949.
In 1950 he started Ray Arnold Masonry & General Contracting Co., building many local homes and businesses including: Solon Valley Hardware, the new Chagrin Falls Post Office, Zucker Marine (now the Bainbridge Post Office), Erickson Tool Co. (now Sedlak Furniture), and the Bainbridge Colonial Lanes & Restaurant (now the Sears Hardware).
Mr. Arnold built, co-owned, and managed the Bainbridge Colonial Lanes from 1961-1980 and was elected to the Bowling Proprietor's Hall of Fame in 1978.
He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, boating, and had a special passion for fishing. He also enjoyed talking to and getting to know people. Ray's challenge to himself was to make a difference in someone's life everyday and to faithfully serve his Lord Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Irene (nee Madison); his sons, Raymond, Jr. (Frances), and Larry (Maria); his grandchildren, Brian, Marc (Shana), Megan, Heather (Jim), Gabriel, Amos, Caleb, Judah, Cody, and Andrew; and his great-grandchild, Taylor. He was a dear brother to Robert (Beverly), Leora (Alan), James (deceased) (Dorothy), and Bonnie (Ken).
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, December 28th, 2:30 pm at Fellowship Bible Church, 16391 Chillicothe Road., Chagrin Falls, Ohio 44023.
