LOUIS J. CAPEK

Deacon Louis J. Capek, age 88, of Moreland Hills, passed away Saturday, March 14th, at Arden Courts in Bainbridge. Beloved husband for 60 years of the late Agnes (nee Walker); loving father of Thomas, Raymond (Nancy), Roseanne (Charles) Radgowski, Kathleen (Jack) Foster and Michael (Cynthia); dear Grandfather of; Eric, Beth, Carey, Aaron, Daniel, Elisia, Ethan, Rachael, Claire, Annie, Matt, Margaret, Tim and Katie. He was son of the late Frank and Rose Capek; brother of Rosemary Zidick and George Capek.(both deceased). He was born in Cleveland and attended St. Procops elementary and commercial high school. He also attended John Carroll University. He was the purchasing agent and office manager for Formweld Metal Products in East Cleveland from 1940 to 1986. He volunteered with the Boy Scouts for many years, served as President of the Holy Name Society, and was active in the Cursillo Movement.

His love of God and fellow man led him into the Deaconate program, and he was ordained on June 17, 1979. Deacon Lui, as he was known, served at St. Joan of Arc parish in Chagrin Falls for 26 years until his health prevented further service. He faithfully preached the Gospel, visited the sick, participated in a longstanding faith sharing group and assisted with the Baptism program among other duties. He also served as Chaplain for the Southeast Serra Club and was dedicated to prayer for vocations.

Calling hours will be at Stroud Lawrence Funeral Home in Chagrin Falls on Friday March 20th from 2-4 and 6-8 with a vigil service at 6:00. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 Saturday morning at St. Joan of Arc Church in Chagrin Falls.
