MARY REINHARDT PARSONS
Mary Reinhardt Parsons, 83, of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and New Smyrna Beach, Florida, died on April 1, 2009, at home.
Mary was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Willard Leo Reinhardt and Lila Potter Reinhardt. She was the youngest of seven children, raised in Shaker Heights, Ohio. She was a graduate of Shaker Heights High School and enjoyed attending all class reunions. On June 10, 1950, Mary was united in marriage with Charles Chaffee Parsons. She was a long-time resident of Chagrin Falls, attending many city council meetings and architectural review meetings. She was interested in the preservation of the homes of the area and the Chagrin Historical Society. She was a past president of the Chagrin Valley Women's Club as well as a member of the New Smyrna Beach Women's Club. Mary was an active member of the Chagrin Falls United Methodist Church. She enjoyed attending art classes, going to the symphony at Severance Hall, participating in Current Events Club, and being at their second home in New Smyrna Beach.
Mary is survived by her husband of 58 years, Charles C.; her son, Charles H. of Chagrin Falls; her daughters and their husbands, Nancy and John Scharf of Mentor, Ann and David Pearson of Atlanta, Georgia; six grandchildren, C. Christopher Parsons, Brandon Geiger Parsons, Lisa (Alex) Ford, Ben Scharf, Andrew Scharf, William Stowe; one great-granddaughter, Paige Seals Stowe. She is further survived by her sister, Hattie Jane Rau of Arizona and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Lila Reinhardt; siblings, Dorothy, Eleanor, Paul, Ruth and James; three beloved nephews, Paul, Jack, and Mark Reinhardt; and one beloved niece, Deborah Reinhardt.
After cremation, a private memorial service was held April 3, 2009, at Chagrin Falls United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 300 E. 185th St., Cleveland, Ohio 44119.
