MARGARET EILEEN (PEGGY) MCDERMOTT
Peggy McDermott, 84 years, of Louisville, CO, died May 14, 2009. She was born on September 1, 1924, in Grand Forks, ND, the daughter of Mary Katherine Kelly and Howard Joseph Monley. She married William Francis McDermott in Grand Forks in 1946 and enjoyed 63 years together, a special couple and example of a loving union to all who have known them.
She was mother to their 10 children and is survived by five sons, Patrick (Ruth Ann) of Westerville, OH, Daniel (Becky) of Houston, TX, Brian (Charlene) of Carmel, IN, David (Liz) of San Carlos, CA, and Mark of Indianapolis, IN; five daughters, Maureen Mancina of Prairie Village, KS, Carrie Bezek (Stan) of Virginia, MN, Julie Rudolf (Charles) of Dalton, PA, Eileen Kamp (Dave) of Cincinnati, OH and Kathleen Fuller of Chardon, OH. She is also survived by 29 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Visitation and prayers were held at Sacred Heart of Mary Church, 6739 South Boulder Road. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated May 19th.
Peggy was a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a woman of deep faith. She was her husband's best friend, support, companion and more. As mother she claimed that each child was her favorite. She taught us all how to care for others and to embrace life with humor, a positive attitude, grace, balance and prayer. She took great joy in simply loving and engaging her grandchildren and welcoming the great grandchildren. Her faith spoke volumes about her as she lived out her spiritual life in action, very kind and gentle, and "if you can't say something nice about someone, don't say anything at all." She was an accomplished pianist, lover of life and faithful friend. We will miss our wild Irish rose.
